How to Capture Every Precious Wedding Moment

There are many wonderful events you will experience in your life; however, one of the most precious is your wedding day. As such, you will want to be sure to capture every cherished moment. Since your wedding is such a special day, it is best to hire the help of a professional photographer for the occasion.

Hiring a Photographer
If you want to get the best wedding photos possible, you should hire a professional photographer. Professionals know best how to catch all of the most precious moments from your special day. Furthermore, they know how to handle variations in such things as lighting, speed and angles without losing picture quality.

Experienced photographers also have all of the proper equipment necessary to produce high-quality, vibrant photos, no matter what the conditions may be. In fact, most professionals come fully prepared with two or three camera bodies, five or more lenses, more than 30 gigabytes of memory cards and enough batteries to power their cameras for several days.

Create a List of Wedding Shots
While choosing the right professional photographer is an important decision in planning your wedding, creating a list of wedding shots is just as essential. Every moment of your wedding and reception will only happen once. As such, you want to be sure to capture every moment you want to remember. The following tips can help you do just that:
• Find out how many and what type of shots are standard
• Determine what shots you would like to add to the list
• Create separate shot lists for each part of the wedding and reception
• Determine if a photographer’s assistant will be needed
• Determine if you want background photos
• Determine if you want to purchase rights to your photos

Keep a Disposable Camera at Your Table or use a Photo-Sharing App
You may be wondering why you will need a disposable camera at your table if you have a professional photographer taking photos. The answer is actually quite simple: Nobody can be in a million places at the same time, not even a professional. With that said, a disposable camera or photo-sharing app will come in handy to capture those unexpected moments.

Furthermore, disposable cameras and photo-sharing apps will allow you or someone else to take some photos that will not cost you much and can add some humor or special touches to a cherished wedding album.

Catch Memories in the Wedding Limousine
In most cases, the photographer does not ride to the ceremony with the bridal party in the stretch limo. You will want to make sure that you are prepared to capture any special moments by designating someone with you to take some photos. Members of the wedding party or special friends are great choices for capturing your treasured limo ride.

Your wedding day will be one of the most special events in your life. As such, you want to make sure that you capture every precious wedding moment, without adding stress to your magical day. You can easily accomplish this by following the useful tips described here.

How to Make the Most Out of Your Wedding Photo Booth

Photobooth props

Photo booths are becoming a fun and popular addition to wedding receptions. This creative and nontraditional type of photography is a great addition to your wedding souvenirs and entertainment. Here are some tips to having a unique and personalized photo booth.

With Props, more is always more
Props for wedding photo booths are easy to find at dollar stores, thrift shops and even flea markets. Most photo booths use big sunglasses, feather boas, hats and many more. Make sure to include other materials especially those that relate to you as a couple. Some items that have significance to your love story can make your photo booth even more special. This makes your photo booth personalized and memorable.

Aside from store bought props, things that you can find in the reception are always fun additions. Drinks, bouquets, silverware are just some of the things your guests can get creative and have fun with.

Express yourself
As a couple, you can have the first shots at a photo booth. This eases the guests into having their photos taken. Make sure to be imaginative and wacky. You don’t even have to put a lot of thought into it. Just step in, be creative and poke fun at each other. Make sure you have a variety of photos from romantic to comedic for your guests to follow. Remember, the most genuine expressions are the most memorable ones.

Lights, Camera Action!
The most effective remedy to having pictures of you or your guests awkwardly smiling and holding out props would be to act out scenes. You can have your photographer hand out cards with different scenes written on it. This is a good guide for your guests and also gives them a creative idea to run with.

Spread the word
The rule for funny things is that the more people get into it, the more memorable it becomes. So, advertise your photo booth and get people excited. Have your guests talking about it until everyone, young and old alike, gets ready to have their pictures taken. Have the photographer mingle around and encourage guests to participate. Enlist the help of your wedding entertainment, be it s DJ or band. Have them announce your photo booth between sets.

Look through samples
The advent of social media has helped many wedding photographers advertise their work and couples look through samples to see what they are getting before they write a check. Compare different photographers online. Some photographers have packages that include other services like pre nuptial photography, ceremony shots and photo booths. See how many copies they can give out to your guests and the creativity of props that they carry. Make sure you get the best price and the best results at the same time.

Have Fun
This can’t be stressed enough. A photo booth is a wedding entertainment in itself. It allows you and your guests to express your wackier, more candid side. All you need is a background, some props, willing guests and let the camera roll.

Top 5 Photo Wedding Gifts for the Bride and Groom

Finding amazing Wedding Gifts for the bride and groom can be a bit tough at times, particularly since the bride and groom often have everything they want, and the things they don’t have and that they do still want are most likely out of your budget.

If you want to give a wedding present that will be loved, used and appreciated, then consider giving personalized wedding gifts with a photo. These gift ideas show that a lot of thought has gone in to the gesture and the bride and groom often favor personalised gifts over other items.

Personalized Champagne Flutes

If the couple drink, then you may like to consider a set of Personalized Champagne Flutes. There are plenty out there to choose from to suit all different tastes and budgets, which allow you to add a different message on to each glass. They are the ideal gifts for toasting the wedding, but also special occasions in the future and the personalized champagne flutes can also be customized with a photo of the bride and groom (for an extra charge). The personalized champagne flutes usually come in a satin lined gift box too, making them look really presentable and sure to stand out from other wedding gifts the happy couple will receive.

Personalized Photo Mugs of the Bride and Groom
Quite often, a couple has lived together before they tie the knot, so they usually have crockery and glassware already at home. However, if you would like to give personalized wedding gifts that have a photo on them that they will be able to use at home, then design your own photo mugs. You could give one to the bride and one to the groom – you may like to write their name on each and add a custom photo of the bride and groom on each too. These would probably have to be given after the wedding day, particularly if you wanted to add a photo from the day of the wedding.

Custom Photo Keepsake Box
Wedding gifts should be about helping to keep the memory of the bride and groom’s perfect day alive. One way you can do this, is by gifting a personalized photo keepsakes box. There are many styles out there to buy on the market place, but a wooden one is always a good option. You can upload a photograph and add some text should you wish to the lid of the memory box to create another memento of the day. The box will remind the couple of you, as well as allow them to collect photographs, trinkets and more memories inside the box over their lives together that they can cherish.

Personalized Photo Wine Bottle
Most people enjoy drinking wine. If you would like to give a keepsake wine gift that the bride and groom can open in the future, may be on their 10th or 25th wedding anniversary for example, then consider gifting a bottle of personalized wine. Not just an every-day drinking bottle of wine, but a bottle of vintage wine, or a wine made for keeping, such as personalized Chateauneuf du Pape or personalized Barolo. Simply choose the type of wine that you would like to give and design your own wine label, by uploading a photograph and adding a message to say whatever you want to say! Ensure you remind the bride and groom to keep this wedding gift at a constant temperature and away from direct sunlight so that the wine lasts.

Personalized Champagne
Personalized Champagne Flutes have already been discussed, but if you have the budget to splash out on some bubbly, then a bottle of personalized champagne is probably the ultimate personalized wedding gift idea for the bride and groom. You get to choose from rose champagne, Grand Cru and brut champagne in 75cl bottles and you can design your own champagne label from scratch to be attached to the front of one of the aforementioned bottles. If you are in search of fantastic photo gifts that will stand out, then personalized champagne is ideal. The bride and groom may choose to keep the personalized champagne bottle forever, or they may open it to help them celebrate further on their wedding night, or maybe even on their first wedding anniversary.

So, there you have it. If you are stuck for wedding gifts to give, then consider a bottle of personalized champagne, photo wine, personalized mugs, a keepsake box with a photo or a set of personalized champagne flutes. 10 Last Minute Things to Do Before Your Big Day

10 last minute things to do before wedding

Successful wedding planning demands a purposeful attitude and almost super human organisational skills. That singular moment up the aisle poses a multitude of things to remember. If you’re a ‘list person’ like me, you’ll no doubt run hell for leather towards the nearest notepad and savour the (quite literally) God-given opportunity to make lists, more lists, and finally lists about those lists…! There are so many things to consider… sweating both the small and big stuff is quite often the norm. Don’t lose sight that this is going to be one of the greatest days of your life. Stay calm and enjoy the moment. Here are a few pointers so that you can avoid pre-nuptial pitfalls and any potential meltdown moments, making sure your wedding is a day to remember… for all the right reasons!

1. Try on your wedding dress
Your wedding photos will capture some of your most cherished memories. Make sure everything fits perfectly and avoid any photo faux pas by trying on your gown one last time. That way if your weight has slightly fluctuated one way or another, there’ll still be time for last-minute alterations or for some serious sessions down the gym!

2. Prepare for your make-up and hair
What better opportunity for a perfect pamper in the build-up to all the excitement? Brides-to-be, make sure you have a gorgeous glow by prepping your hair and skin. Unwind with some scented candles around a lush-smelling bubble bath. Give yourself a five star pamper with a hair conditioning mask and a home facial. Follow with a manicure and pedicure, and exfoliate from top to toe so you have silky smooth pins for the big day and beyond.

3. Go over your vows
If you have written your own vows you may want to give them a read through one last time so that (despite potentially jangling nerves!) you’ll be able go through them without forgetting them.

4. Remember to iron the groom’s shirt
On your wedding day all eyes will be on the bride. But, of course, you’ll only have eyes for your beloved. Immaculately suited and booted, make sure he’s sporting a crisp shirt, a garment which can be given some fuss-free TLC with a proper steam iron. Chaps, don’t forget that smooth, kissable skin or at least a well groomed beard is a must, so make sure you shave properly with a good quality razor.

5. Test drive your shoes
You’ll be wearing brand new shoes on the day so it’s important to give them a test drive, especially if you’re wearing sky high heels. Walking around the house in your wedding shoes will train your feet against embarrassing stumbles and soften the material to make them more comfortable.

6. Make sure the Champagne is chilling
Whether you’re having a small, intimate gathering or a large scale event, it pays to make sure you have the Champagne at the ready and in plentiful supply. Ensure that someone has stocked up the right amount so that the celebration bubbles can keep on flowing when it’s time for your nearest and dearest to raise a glass to your future happiness!

7. Check the weather forecast
(You may want to cross your fingers as you do this!) We all know that the infamous British weather will do what it will. However, at least if you check out the 5-day forecast you’ll know what to expect in the run-up to and during your big day. And if it doesn’t quite go your way, remember, at least you have that long, hot honeymoon to look forward to!

8. Check the favors
The devil is most certainly in the detail, so check these little additions and keep them altogether. It may be an idea to add a few more just in case you have extra guests on the day.

9. Pack for your honeymoon early
Depending on how organized you are, this can be done way in advance and then it’s one less thing to think about. Nail down a checklist of what you need to take (remember that baggage allowance!) and don’t forget to make sure that your passports, currency and travel documents are in order.

10. Relax!
This is probably the most important thing. In the remaining days of singledom relish a little chunk of ‘me time’. Unwind with your love of your life on a couple’s spa day, go out for a romantic meal, or enjoy a night at the cinema. Talk about your special day and get excited!

Alternatives to the bouquet and garter toss

Games and activities at a wedding reception can make for some wonderful photo opps! One activity that has long been a tradition at the reception is the bouquet and garter toss. Lots of couples have collected cute, funny or just plain silly photos from these type of activities. They can also be a great way to get a lot of your friends and relatives in a group photo on the dancefloor. But many couples these days are choosing not to include these older traditions in their celebration.

Here are some ideas for alternatives to the bouquet and garter toss that can still give you lots of opportunities for great photos! Make sure to let your photographer know about these games or encourage your guests to take lots of photos with their wedding photo-sharing app.

Consider Positions
If you do still want to do a garter toss, it can be more comfortable for the bride to stand and slightly raise her dress, with the groom kneeling in front of her, to remove the garter. This makes for a less awkward position and much better photos!

Anniversary Dance
In lieu of a bouquet and garter toss, do an anniversary dance. Ask all the married couples to begin dancing on the dancefloor and have the DJ ask couples to leave throughout the song. At the end of the song the couple that has been married the longest gets the bouquet. You could also give a single flower to each couple as they are “eliminated” from the dance to honor their relationship.

After the Catch
If you want to throw the bouquet and garter, but don’t want your guests to have to go through the act of placing the garter on the leg, you can change the tradition up a little to have the two that caught the items take a photo together holding their items, or even have them dance together (choose a funny or fast song to mix it up!).

Present the Bouquet
Instead of a game you can make the bouquet a presentation and give a short speech and then present the flowers to the next couple that will be getting married, or the couple that has been married the longest. Some brides have even given their bouquet away to the person that introduced them or was the reason they met.

Toss Other Items
Still want to toss something? Some grooms have tossed a little black book (with a joke inside, or lottery tickets) while others have tossed stuffed toys or candy to the kids! Talk about a great photo opportunity!

A Game for the Garter
Play a trivia or truth game with the men on the floor to win the garter. You can use questions such “Who went on a date last night?” or “Have you ever looked at the price of engagement rings?” If they can’t answer yes to the question, they must leave the floor until there is a winner. He gets the garter (and maybe another gift) as a prize.

Include Everyone
You can include all the woman at a wedding rather than just the single women. Toss your bouquet or consider tossing a bunch of flowers that separate in the air so many women end up with them.

Want to make it a little more exciting? Attach gift cards or lottery tickets to a bouquet and garter and toss to everyone, not just the single folks. Someone will end up with a great prize!

Want to make the garter toss a little more classy? Ask the married men to gather around and the man that catches it will have a gift for his wife later that night.

Alternatives to Wedding Guestbooks

Are you looking for some creative ways to remember the guests at your wedding? While a traditional guestbook collects names of all your guests, sometimes you may want something more personal. Well, there are lots of ways that you can get your guests to write messages and wishes for you in an alternative guestbook! Here are a few ideas:

Create forms that your guests can fill out with their own advice, well-wishes and messages. After, you can gather all the forms in a binder or scrapbook and look through it as a couple.

Want to remember the birthdays of all your close friends and family? Have them sign a calendar on their birthday! You’ll forever be able to refer back to it and never miss a birthday!

If you’re using a photo-sharing app such as PhotoOpp Bride Edition, your guests can sign a digital guestbook inside the app. That way whenever you open the app to view all your collected photos, you’ll get to see the messages and wishes from your guests!

Create a work of art to be displayed in your home. In the example below a couple had their guests sign messages on paper butterflies, and then arranged them on a wall as an art installation! Get creative and think of ways to decorate your home with messages!

Another way to display messages would be to have your guests sign patches on a quilt! You can have individual patches of cloth available or actually put together a quilt and let them sign directly on to it.

Similar to the quilt idea, have your guests sign an object such as a guitar or skis or an item that you and your fiance love. We’ve seen couples have plates, vases, mirrors and oars displayed as guestbooks!

A nice combination of art, messages and an item to display would be a custom-made poster that your guests can sign and that you can hang in your home after the wedding! We love this heart poster with room for lots of messages!

As you’re planning you’re wedding, let yourself get creative and consider an alternative guestbook to collect and save messages from your guests! We’d love to hear your ideas in the comments :)

How to Use Your Engagement Photographs

Many newly engaged couples consider engagement photos, but not all couples indulge. It’s great to have a professional photo of you as a couple, but aren’t there other better ways to use your money? Well, here are a few reasons why engagement photos are a great idea, and some ideas on what to do with those photos once you have taken them!

One of the best reasons to have engagement photos taken is to get to know your photographer. Some photographers will offer engagement sessions as part of the wedding package. Or you may choose to hire someone specifically for the engagement shots. Either way, the shoot will be a great opportunity for your photographer to get to know you as people and to see how you relate to each other. This can only be beneficial for when she or he is shooting your wedding!

Once you have some photos taken, there are lots of ways to use them. For one, you can create Save-The-Date cards from the engagement session and send them out to your guests. Save-The-Dates are typically sent out six to nine months ahead of time. If you plan ahead, you could even include some signs in your engagement photo session that show your names, wedding date, etc.

If you are planning on holding an engagement party, what better invitation than a card with your photo on it? Have your printer design a card that features you and invites everyone to celebrate with you.

You could also use the engagement photos as part of your wedding decor. Couples have used their photos for guestbooks, table numbers, favors or to dress up the gift table.

Source: etsy.com via PhotoOpp on Pinterest

If you are creating a website or Facebook Page about your wedding, the engagement photos are great to post as your image.

If you want to create Thank You cards ahead of time, and not wait for wedding photos to come back, you can always use your Engagement Photos on those cards. Or use them as Thank-Yous for your wedding shower.

And finally, a beautiful photo of you and your fiance is always a great gift for family members, any time of the year.

What do you plan on doing with your engagement photos?

How to Get Lots of Photos of Dancing Wedding Guests

Source: waynemakiblog.com via PhotoOpp on Pinterest

Some of the best, most entertaining photos you can collect at your wedding reception are of your guests on the dance floor. Whether it’s your parents dancing together, your friends dancing crazy or the flower girl spinning in her dress, the dance floor is a great place to capture amazing pics. Your photographer will be on the lookout for photo opportunities, but you can also use a photo-sharing app like PhotoOpp Bride Edition to have all your guests collect photos with their phones. The best part is all those pics get sent to your online album instantly!

So how do you make sure you get those guests out on the dance floor? A great DJ or band will definitely help! We recently sent some questions to DJ Craig, a DJ based in Southern CA, and asked him for some tips and current music trends.

What songs are popular these days to get a lot of guests on the dance floor?

Current dance favorites include “Scream & Shout” by Will.I.Am, “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore & just about anything from Black Eyed Peas. “I Cry”- Flo Rida, “Starships”- Nicki Minaj and “Don’t Stop The Party”- Pitbull will pull people out to the floor every time. For all the backlash caused by it’s massive popularity, “Gangnam Style” still gets a great response.

I try to keep in mind that music is much like a meal- a mix of flavors and textures makes it all taste (sound) better. Just before a set of music begins to get predictable, it’s time to add some contrast. If I am playing a set of modern dance music I might mix in a Retro 80s Michael Jackson song just to spice it up. Or I may completely change it up by dropping in a Rock song like “Sweet Child O Mine”. It all depends on the crowd and what’s happening on the dance floor.

Is there a song that grandparents and older couples always get up and dance to?

Depends on the generation they are from. For some, Motown & 70s will work. If they are a bit older, Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody” is the ticket. For grandparents, you can’t go wrong with Sinatra. “The Way You Look Tonight” is a classic as are “Fly Me To The Moon”, “The Best Is Yet To Come”, “Summer Wind” and “New York, New York”.

When in doubt, Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable” is perhaps THE most recognized Pop song of all time. It will have people from all age groups moving towards the dance floor!

Source: Uploaded by user via PhotoOpp on Pinterest

Is there a way your DJ can help organize the crowd for easier picture taking?

For a group photo, the DJ can encourage everyone to get together, usually on the dance floor. During dancing, the photographer can get on a chair or other elevated area and the DJ can let the guests know. The mere presence of a camera usually gets a great response.

We all love photos of guests having fun. What songs always make people act goofy, silly, ridiculous?

The aforementioned “Gangnam Style”, also “YMCA”, “Cha Cha Slide” and “Shout!”.

Are there games your DJ can facilitate that make people smile, laugh and have fun?

Depending on the taste of the newlyweds, a game or two can be incorporated. Too many and the reception can cross into the dreaded “cheese zone”.

One favorite is to announce that, in lieu of tapping glasses to get the newlyweds to kiss, the bride and groom have requested that each table of guests randomly stand up and sing a chorus of a song with the word “love” in it.

It’s a good idea to have the wedding party already prompted to demonstrate how this works. Once guests get the idea, entire tables take turns standing up and singing throughout the meal. Applause ensues and the bride and groom kiss.

Photos of children on the dance floor are usually adorable. What songs do children seem to like to dance to?

Children will dance to ANYTHING and are typically the first ones on the floor, often dancing to dinner music. And they never complain- love those guys!

iPhone Photography Tips

Taking photos with your phone is easy, convenient and can be a great way to share pics, especially if you’re using a photo-sharing app. If you plan on using your iPhone or other Smartphone to take photographs at your wedding, bachelorette, shower or engagement party, you may want to review some of these quick tips first to insure you get lots of great photos!

Keep it Simple
Try to avoid having too much going on in your photo. Have one main subject in the shot and keep the focus on that. Crowd scenes are great, but your iPhone photos will look much better if you simply have one couple, one cute kid or one smiling parent front and center.

Edit After
Accept the fact that you may want to edit your photos after taking them. While there are some great apps for editing, you may find it easier to edit on your computer. If you take a really great photo and want to share it or display it, there is always the option of adjusting the contrast, light and saturation afterwards.

Also, don’t delete photos off your iphone that you think don’t look good. Wait until you see them full-screen on your computer to decide if they are worth keeping or editing.

Keep Your Lens Clean
Yes, your iphone or android phone has a lens that needs to be cleaned! The iPhone camera lens is very small, about 2mm. But a smudge or fingerprint on that small space can greatly affect your photos. So keep it clean.

Use a dry, microfiber cloth such as a glasses lens-cleaning cloth and wipe the lens. Using a liquid or alcohol-based cleaner can actually cause the protective coating on the lens to wear off or liquid can get inside the lens and damage it.

Stay Still When Taking Photos
Most of us naturally have a little bit of shaking and jitters when holding up our phones. This small amount of shaking can cause your photos to be blurry. To hold your camera still look for something to lean your arm or phone on when taking the photo. Or take some deep breaths!

Find the Light
Low light in photos will result in a poor-quality, grainy picture. So make sure you have good lighting in your photos. The best advice is to keep the light behind you and make sure your subject is well-lit.

Take Two Shots
Or more! It’s easy to take multiple shots with your phone camera, so shoot away. Sometimes a slight adjustment in how you are holding the phone, changing the angle or moving closer can make a difference in your shot.

Zooming
Using the zoom will result in some decrease in quality of your photos. It’s usually better to try to move closer to your subject than to try to zoom in.

We hope these iPhone photography tips will help you capture some great photos!
